Toward a broad range of extremely high-performance materials

Polymer materials are divided into three families, depending on their intrinsic properties:

• basic materials, e.g. PVC;
• performance materials, such as PMMA, classical polyamides and functional polyolefins;
• extremely high-performance materials, including polyamides with special characteristics, nanostructured materials, rubbers derived from supramolecular chemistry, and ketone polyethers.
  

It is this family of extremely high-performance materials that Arkema intends to develop with the ambitious objective of multiplying the corresponding revenue stream tenfold within five years, bringing it to €250 million per annum.
